Cyril A. “Mouse” Oosterlinck

411th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Platoon, Company D


CYRIL A. “MOUSE” OOSTERLINCK, was born in Detroit , MI .
He was inducted December 1, 1942 at Fort Custer , MI and from there 
went to Camp Claiborne , LA. , was in Company D., 411th Inf., 
2nd Platoon. Trained there and later sent to Camp Howze , TX .
Stayed throughout the war with the 103rd and participated except for a
three day pass to Paris and a rest pass to Nancy , France around the 
23rd of April 1945 when the war ended. Remembers as most memorable 
being pinned down in an open field until night fall after a German returned 
to a position that had been taken earlier on a hillside at the 
Siegfried Line at Nieder Schlettenbach.
He was discharged on Dec. 3, 1945 with the rank of sergeant from
Camp Grant , IL
after returning home with the 45th Inf. Div. His medals include Bronze Star, 
one Service Stripe, one Overseas Service Bar, American Campaign Medal,
 European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon with three Bronze Battle Stars,
Good Conduct and expert with heavy machine gun.
Married to Norma Guldi, they have four children, eight grandchildren 
and three great grandchild.  He was a tool and die maker. 
Retired in March 1987 after 21 years at General Motors as a 
metal model maker.
