Harry Schweikert |

Harry passed away in Florida in 1981 or 1982. I will get the exact
date for your website in the near future. After the war (1946) Harry
and a brother were traveling on a motorcycle and had a serious
accident that left him in a wheelchair the rest of his life. Harry
spent his life helping disabled veterans and held most executive
positions in the Eastern Division of the Paralyzed Veterans of
America. He never married.
Harry received a battlefield commission to 2nd Lt and later in June of
1945 was promoted to 1st Lt while assigned to the 15th Infantry
Regiment company G.
I would like to share with you a letter he wrote to his mother
sometime in November of 1944 before he was transferred to the 15th
Infantry Regiment, Company G. The letter is a typewritten carbon copy
of Harry's letter transcribed by my Grandfather (errors and all). It
was included with correspondence he was sending to another son serving
overseas.
