PFC PAUL E. KINGSLEY - (KIA)

409 G Company

   

Paul was born on September 16, 1925 in Perth, KS.

He graduated from Wellington High School in 1943 and then worked at an aircraft supply company.

Drafted into service on December 11, 1943, he reported to Camp Fannin, Texas for basic training.  Paul contracted Spinal Meningitis and was hospitalized May 26, 1944.  He was considered critical for one week and eventually given a 7-Day furlough in August.  On his return he was sent to Camp Howze where he was assigned to the 409th, G-Company on September 16.  He was immediately shipped overseas and to the front lines.  Paul was declared MIA at the Siegfried Line on December 18, 1944 and was later changed to KIA in January.   He was temporarily buried in France.  His remains were repatriated to the U.S. on August 9, 1948 where he was laid to rest next to his brother who was also KIA on June 30, 1943 in a plane crash.
