According to T/SGT Jack Kirkman (in 1995),
the driver of the truck in the background, T/SGT Jordon Ridgley won
the Silver Star for rescuing troops in clearing a minefield when they
came under attack by a German ME 262 jet fighter. Kirkman says
that Ridgley drove his truck into the field and got the troops out.
