ENTERED SERVICE FROM RUSSELL, IL. BASIC TRAINING AT CAMP WOLTERS, TX. ASSIGNED TO THE 103D ID, 409TH REGIMENT, D-COMPANY IN AUGUST 1944 AND SERVED IN FRANCE & GERMANY AS 1ST GUNNER. HE WAS WOUNDED BY MORTAR BARRAGE DURING ASSAULT ON THE SIEGFRIED LINE ON 3/22/45 NEAR REISDORF, GERMANY. HE WAS ADMITTED TO SEVERAL HOSPITALS IN ENGLAND, NEW JERSEY, KANSAS AND MICHIGAN & DISCHARGED FROM PERCY JONES HOSPITAL ON 10/12/45.
