 11/26/43.  TRAINED AT CAMP HOWZE, TEXAS AND
 ASSIGNED TO THE 1ST PLATOON MACHINE GUNNERS
 OF D COMPANY, 409TH REGIMENT OF THE 103D
 DIVISION.  ARRIVED MARSEILLE, FRANCE ON
 OCTOBER 20TH, 1944.  FOUGHT THROUGH THE
 VOSGES MOUNTAIN CAMPAIGN.  WAS WOUNDED
 AND CAPTURED IN SURPRISE COUNTERATTACK BY
 GERMAN TANKS IN SELESTAT, FRANCE ON 12/2/44.
  RESIDENT OF STALAGS XIIA AND 9B FOR
 REMAINDER OF CONFLICT. LIBERATED BY GENERAL
 GEORGE S. PATTON’S 3d ARMY IN APRIL 1945.
