- Born September 29, 1922.
- John Dobis reported to Camp Claiborne, LA on December 12th,
1942 for his
- basic training.
Upon completion, he was assigned to the 409th
Regiment; Company D.
- He moved with the Division to Camp Howze in November
1943. In September of ’44
- he was transported to Camp Shanks and boarded the USS
Monticello for the ETO.

- Dobis was part of the 409th, 1st
Battalion assault behind enemy lines on Steige, France where
he was KIA on November 25th, 1944.

- He was 22 years old.

- His remains were repatriated to the US in 1948.

He now rests at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Saginaw, MI.
