  PFC JOHN DOBIS - (KIA)
409th  D-Company
 
Born September 29, 1922.
John Dobis reported to Camp Claiborne, LA on December 12th, 1942 for his
basic training.  Upon completion, he was assigned to the 409th Regiment; Company D.
He moved with the Division to Camp Howze in November 1943. In September of ’44
he was transported to Camp Shanks and boarded the USS Monticello for the ETO. 
 
Dobis was part of the 409th, 1st Battalion assault behind enemy lines on Steige, France where he was KIA on November 25th, 1944.   
 
He was 22 years old.
 
His remains were repatriated to the US in 1948.
He now rests at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Saginaw, MI.
